AN INCIDENT which has seen several fire engines attend Hinkley Point power station was a small fire, according to site operators EDF Energy.
Residents in Bridgwater had reported hearing sirens heading in the direction of the nuclear power station at lunchtime on Wednesday (May 16).
In a statement, EDF said: "A small fire was detected in the gas turbine house at 11.55am today at Hinkley Point B power station. "The station's fire response team was mobilised to deal with the incident.
"Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was also immediately called in accordance with established procedures.
"The fire, in some lagging, was extinguished in a few minutes, before the arrival of the fire service's appliances.
"There were no injuries to any personnel. There has been no impact on operational activity at the power station, which continues to safely generate electricity.

Well no it wouldn't because if you actually read the article, you will find the Fire was extinguished BEFORE the emergency services arrived:
""The fire, in some lagging, was extinguished in a few minutes, before the arrival of the fire service's appliances."
Read before you judge.

The emergency services were going through Cannington to the Point for well over a half an hour SO DID GO TO HiNKLEY even though by the time they got there the fire was out and ronaldh did say IF Edfs 2000 plus vehicles had been on the road and he is right it could have delayed the services getting through and IT might have been a major incident I can only assume chris6273 works for EDF!!!!
