A GERMAN man who spent two weeks with a Bridgwater family 60 years ago has been reunited after a plea to the Mercury to find his long-lost friend.

Horst Von Manger-Koenig stayed with the Hext family in the 1950s during a foreign exchange trip and both he and Daphne, who was 20 at the time, exchanged visits and letters.

Daphne, who married to become Mrs Rowley and now lives in Gloucestershire, lost touch with Horst but thanks to a story in the Bridgwater Mercury on December 6 and eagle-eyed reader Jill Symiec, the pair are connected again.
