UPDATED: Bridgwater postal workers walk out

POSTAL workers at Bridgwater’s Royal Mail Sorting Office staged an unofficial walkout this morning.

The Mercury understands a dispute over the suspension of a worker at the Friarn Street branch has sparked the exodus.

They returned to work later in the day after negotiations with Royal Mail.

The company apologised for any late mail as a result of the walkout.

I don't know the reason for the exodus but I hope Royal Mail have drafted in some staff from another branches to at least deliver my mail. Is it me or does the Bridgwater Sorting office just strike over every little thing and then expect the public to be behind them ? At the least I hope they are not getting paid whilst they are not working. I am fed up with getting no mail for 3 days then I get a weeks worth in one day where its all been stored up and out of this I have to then re-sort it at least once a week as half of it is not for me but for the street around the corner. Its just shoved through with the elastic band holding about 3 houses worth and then I get no mail for the next 4 days. Perhaps they should just shut the office and let it all go to Taunton or Burnham might actually get a service if you can call it that.

What is it with Bridgwater postmen?

Its about time they sacked the lot of them and got some people who can do the job without striking all the time.

Preferably postmen who can actually read would be useful as well!!

Well said frags27,bridgwater and
BlackKnight_uk. This office is a disgrace. Why the strike this time somebody forget to buy the tea and coffee ? I must say the postman who delivers to us is 1st class we have no complaints about him.The days he is off the stand in allways puts our post in next door !

Sack this workshy lot and get some staff who actually want to work. We have a bit of snow over Christmas and they didn't deliver to us (in town) for almost 3 weeks, I still had to go to work but not these guys! Seems to me they look for any excuse not to work.
