Barking-mad bird

JACK steals dog treats, loves his “family” and frightens the postman - but he is not a dog, he is a crow.

Found outside his nest and unable to fend for himself, the small bird was taken in by a loving Huntsworth family and cared for.

Ten weeks later, Jack has stuck with his new family who say he thinks he's a dog - he flies at the postman, keeps watch over the house and even snatches the dogs' treats from their beds.

Joe Notaro-Livingstone, 11, told the Mercury all about the latest addition to his family.

He said: “I found Jack when I went fishing, he was so tiny and he couldn't even lift his own head.

“I brought him home and we looked after him, now he thinks he's a dog and he tries to protect us - he even jumps on the postman's head.”

Free to go where he pleases, Jack will often disappear for the day, but returns home to hop around the worktops and drink from the kitchen sink.

Joe's sister, 12-year-old Cheryl, said: “Whenever we get in the car, he jumps in too because he wants to come with us.

“And when mum comes back, he jumps on her lap like an excitable puppy. He is stubborn but really thinks he is part of the family.”

The family already have five pooches and Paddy is top dog, but Jack thinks he is second in command - whatever his position, the family adore him.
