TWO countries and several generations came together in North Petherton this week as this year's twinning event took place.
The groups met at North Petherton Twinning Association's unique Twinning Bridge at North Petherton Primary School.
The bridge is part of the school's environmental trail and was dedicated in 2014 to celebrate 20 years of friendship between North Petherton and its twin town in France, Ceaucé, which is based in Normandy.
Over the years the two towns have exchanged many visits including school, trade and sports trips.
Led by Ceaucé 's twinning president, Jean Claude Poirrier and North Petherton's Mayor Cllr. Alan Bradford, the entire group gathered to socialise and take photographs for their scrapbooks.
Chairman of the North Petherton Twinning Association Rosemary Day said: "Our French friends especially asked to visit the bridge again during their trip to us this May as it is a symbol of our steadfast friendship over the years."
North Petherton Twinning Association is decades old and the group visits and hosts its friends from Ceaucé to share and enjoy friendship and learning in alternate years. The group's winter schedule of fundraisers to support the exchanges is coming up and they always welcome new members.
