WITH the development of the Gateway industrial site at Junction 24, the popular bank of daffodils was destroyed during the roadworks.

A member of the East Quantoxhead Probus Club was very disappointed at the loss of the wonderful show of flowers and decided to do something about it.

So he went out and bought 45kg of King Alfred daffodil bulbs to replace them, as the name King Alfred has many connections with North Petherton.

North Petherton Town Council and the Gateway development company were very pleased to accept the bulbs, and the chairman of East Quantoxhead Probus Club Martin Lane explained that the developer had brought in a landscape gardener to ensure the bulbs had the maximum effect.

“The bulbs were planted in December and are now well in bloom and are a welcoming site for those travelling to and from North Petherton via Junction 24,” Mr Lane said.
