FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a home near Birdgwater in the night after reports from a memebr fo the public.
Three fire engines from Bridgwater were sent to a home in Othery shortly before 9.30pm yesterday (April 9).
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the officer in charge confirmed that there was a fire within the chimney space of the property.
"Crews got to work using a thermal imaging camera to check the extent of the fire, and to ensure it had not spread to the roof space.
"They then proceeded to extinguish the fire using hearth gear and a low pressure hose reel."
The incident was made safe and handed over to the occupier.
