CHRISTMAS fun and giving has come early to hundreds of Bridgwater students and parents with an annual school fair raising more than £1,300 for charities.
Robert Blake Science College students had festive cheer in abundance when hosting their annual Christmas Fair which raised money for Children in need, Children’s Hospice South West, Sight Savers and Cancer Research.
Students created stalls hosted by professionals to show off to hundreds of visitors.
There was a stall competition with houses getting into the Christmas spirit with students selling cakes, handmade cards, personalised baubles and creating games that were enjoyed by all ages.
The school’s green fingers club raised money by selling home-made chutneys and jams and plants they have nurtured.
Children from a variety of schools showed off their entries to a competition with winning creations including a three-foot snowman made form plastic cups, a ginger bread house fit for Bake Off and phenomenal cakes in the shape of Father Christmas, Rudolph and a Snowman.
Headteacher Deb Loveridge said: “Well done everyone involved and thank you to so many for helping raise more than £1,300 for charities and having lots of fun in the process.
“A huge thanks to local businesses for providing generous prizes for the competitions; which included Berry’s Coaches, New Look, Court Street Kids, Hooks of Bridgwater, Celebrations South West, Bicycle Chain, Top Gift, Scott Cinemas, Sarah Hodge Hair, Coffee #1, The McMillan Theatre, Unique Fashions, Earth Station and Visit Bath.”
