DAMAGED footpaths at a West Huntspill Church are one step closer to being repaired, thanks to a grant from The Big Lottery Fund.
Volunteers from St Peter and All Hallows Church raised £2,000 by appealing to residents to sponsor one of 34 sections of the path for a fee of £10 to allow for the walkway to be re-tarmacked.
The West Huntspill church also hosted a number of events at the church over the summer in a bid to raise the funds to repair the damaged path, which will cost in excess of £3,000.
David Lemon, churchwarden at St Peter and All Hallows Church, said: “We have been awarded enough funds to not only renew the footpath and upgrade the lighting, but also to repair the coal house roof which has been in a poor state of repair for a while.
“We are hopeful most of the work will be carried out before Christmas."
