A WEDDING and events venue in Bridgwater has gained its full license.
Sydenham Barn in Horsey, off Bath Road, has applied for a license to host live music events approximately three times a year, with weddings and parties hosting up to 250 people on a more regular basis.
It had held events using Temporary Event Notices, but an application for a full license in October received objections from the parish council and Sedgemoor District Council's Environment and Health department.
The initial hearing of the Sedgemoor District Council licensing and gambling panel was initially adjourned for a
noise assessment report to be assessed.
At the hearing the applicant, Mr Moate that Little Sydenham Farm had been a working farm for many years and had been in his family for generations.
He said following the sale of part of the farm land for the Kingsdown housing estate there was a need to diversify and several buildings were retained for use as an entertainment venue.
However it was recognised that the noise from previous events had created a public nuisance, and as such Mr Moate has spent a considerable sum to insulate the barn and bring it up to an acceptable standard for music and dancing events.
The parish council also withdrew their objection.
After the noise impact assessment was produced by the Environment and Health department, the panel agreed to grant a license subject to a number of conditions requested be the environment and health department and the police.
