FOUR people were arrested at this weekend's Bridgwater Carnival, with three being issued with fixed penalty notices and one released with further action.

Police also said they are investigating an assault at the Newmarket pub in Bath Road at around 8pm.

A member of staff asked a group of men to leave and one of them punched him in the face, causing bruising and a cut, which required medical treatment.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "No-one has been arrested in connection with this incident and our enquiries are continuing.

"Anyone with information should contact Bridgwater police quoting 5217/252648."

The arrested fail to spoiled a fantastic spectacle and brilliant weekend for the town.
