This year over 34,000 pupils, from across the country, were pledged £5 and given one month to set up a mini-business and create a product or a service to sell or deliver. The pupils can decide to keep the profits or donate them to a charity or cause within their local community.

All the national award winners were invited to attend a special day out in London and a Fiver awards ceremony on Monday, September 25.

George from North Newton Junior School, Bridgwater, said: ”I learnt if you come up with a good idea, then you can make some money. And not to be scared when meeting new people whilst selling as everyone was very friendly and supportive of my idea.

Michael Mercieca, Young Enterprise chief executive, said: “The Fiver Challenge is a fun and exciting way for primary school pupils to be creative and learn about the world of business.

"Pupils are empowered to start developing key employability skills such as problem-solving a teamwork and I’m always impressed by their entrepreneurship and imagination”
