TWELVE nights of carnival fun is kicking off in Bridgwater in the run up to the big event.

The carnival concerts start at the town hall tonight at 7pm. It runs for 10 consecutive nights and sees each act put on a show. 

The main carnival procession takes place on November 4.  

Over the course of the 12 nights, the total hours of entertainment will hit 48 hours, with each act on the stage for a total of 1 hour and 42 minutes. 

The four-hour show features 142 different songs. 

The first ever concert took place in 1883, and this event marks its 123rd anniversary. 

There are 186 children performing this year as part of a front-of-curtain act, dance troupe or carnival club.
