Construction workers at Hinkley C have turned down a new pay offer from EDF and will now ballot for strike action, it is understood.
Workers at the power point site have been embroiled in a long-running dispute over pay and bonuses with energy giant EDF.
A construction worker at the site, who asked to remain anonymous, said around 95 per cent of staff balloted on the new pay deal have turned it down.
A spokesman for EDF said last week the offer is an improved one and is understood to be about a five per cent increase on gross pay.
The worker said: “This was a ballot on the pay offer and we rejected that and now a ballot paper will go out for us to strike and I expect the same percentage to vote again.”
