MANY people will have noticed that the impressive display of daffodils on the roadside approaching North Petherton was missing this spring; a consequence of the recent road works.

However it now looks like that they will soon be back thanks to the generous acts of local people.

A member of the East Quantocks Probus Club recently wrote to Cllr Alan Bradford, the Mayor of North Petherton, offering to provide a supply of the prestigious 'King Alfred' bulbs as replacements, if the Town Council could arrange to have them planted.

Bridgwater Gateway Ltd has now said it would be happy to cover the full cost of their landscaping contractors planting the bulbs, in order that everyone can enjoy an improved display of colour next spring.

Cllr Bradford said: “On behalf of the people of North Petherton, I would like to thank the Probus Club and Bridgwater Gateway Ltd for their generous help in restoring the approach to our town to its former glory.

"Given the town’s connection with King Alfred, it is particularly gratifying that this particular variety is being so kindly planted.”
