STAFF from the Bridgwater branch of retail chain BrightHouse organised the football match in a bid to get fit, while supporting the charity’s aim to fight for every childhood.
The match between Hardly Athletic FC and Queen’s Park Strangers raised more than £1,000, which will be matched by Brighthouse.
Anthony Pruvedenti, manager of the BrightHouse Bridgwater store, said: “The day went really well and with the money donated online included we raised more than £1,000.
“It was a lovely afternoon with around 200 in attendance.
“All of the brilliant raffle prizes were won, including a 28" HD TV, a mountain bike and tickets to see various football and rugby matches.”
Anna Keir, NSPCC fundraising manager for Somerset, said: “I’d like to thank Anthony for all his hard work organising the match and raising money for the NSPCC.
“The money they’ve raised will go towards our work protecting children, including the NSPCC helpline, Childline and the schools programme.”
Anyone still wishing to donate can do so online at www.justgiving.com/Kickabout4thekids.
