MANNERS cost nothing but Sedgemoor FM DJ Dave Englefield is concerned they are not as valued as they used to be. Find out why in this week's column.

Is it just me or are we generally less polite than we were in the past.

I was brought up to say please and thank you, something that I would like to think I have passed on to my children.

These days though it seems that, if someone accidentally bumps into you, you are as likely to be glared at as you are to receive an apology.

I know we can all get a bit pre-occupied at times but surely a quick sorry doesn’t hurt. Politeness costs nothing but can make a huge difference to how we view others around us.

I’m sure the world would be a slightly nicer place for it as well.

In radio news this week, we’re all quite excited at the prospect of our first open mic night on Thursday, March 23.

We’re working with Purplespoons to host the event in the café at the YMCA.
It will be yet more proof of just how much talent we have here.

I know I’ve mentioned it before but it never fails to amaze me just how talented our little part of the world really is.

We’re also at that stage of the year now where we are planning our summer events calendar. If you would like the team to attend your event, please get in touch with us sooner rather later to avoid disappointment.

You can hear Dave Englefield on 104.2 Sedgemoor FM weekdays from 6am-10am
