TWO injured Armed Forces veterans who are cycling recumbent bikes 518 miles for charity will be passing through Bridgwater on the final week of their epic journey.

Patrick Medhurst-Feeney and Laura Ellis are trying to raise more than £6,000 for Help for Heroes and Veterans With Dogs which will be split 50/50 between the two charities.

Both charities have helped the veterans through their recovery pathway and continue to help them.

Starting at Edinburgh Castle on May 13, finishing in Exeter Quay on May 22, and the pair will finishing their penultimate leg in King Square, Bridgwater on May 21.

Afghanistan veteran Laura was diagnosed with nocturnal epilepsy before in 2015 being diagnosed with a mental health injury.

“In February 2016 I was rushed in to hospital as I’d lost most of the feeling in my body from the waist down.

"This was due to Cauda Equina, and so underwent emergency surgery to remove the L4 and L5 discs leaving me with ongoing lower back problems.”

Patrick meanwhile was injured while on adventurous training with his squadron in Afghanistan which eventually led to him being discharged from the Army in March last year.
