ALL lanes have opened on the M5 near Burnham-on-Sea after a crash left a lorry obstructing the road.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to the incident on the southbound carriageway at 2.55pm. 

The crash occured just one mile before J23.

The lorry has now been moved to the hard shoulder.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called at 2.55pm to reports of a crash on the southbound carriageway on the M5 between J22 and 23.

"The crash was between a lorry and a car.

"No one was injured in the crash but the road remains obstructed meaning that traffic is slow moving.

"The lorry that crashed is a wide load and it's removal is being arranged. 

"The hard shoulder remains open for traffic. 

"The Highways Agency are now managing the clear up."
