A BRIDGWATER school has marked Remembrance Day in the most spectacular way yet.

Students at Chilton Trinity created a curtain of hundreds of red poppies, with induvidual messages written by students.

The curtain is still hanging inside the school and it is hoped that next year it can be expanded on.

For the first time ever, every single child took part in the proceedings and the two-minute silence.

For the whole school parade, students assembled on the tennis courts as they would for a fire drill, immediately falling silent.

A parade then took place, led by Lieutenant Commander (RN) Callister.

Students dressed in their cadet uniforms marched proudly and somberly into the space in front of the whole school.

Teacher Graeme Wright played the bugle while Lieutenant Commander Callister spoke to the whole assembled school and a poppy wreath was laid.

Headteacher Lesley Greenway said: "This was one of the proudest moments of my time as head.

"It really was one of those moments in time that made us all feel incredibly humble and proud.

"It was our biggest and most extended commemoration yet. It was the idea of the students and you could hear a pin drop for well over 10 minutes.

"This school strives to help nurture fantastic citizens and this event showed the values and culture of this high-achieving, caring, community school."
