SANCTUARY Care residents in Bridgwater are blossoming together as they get set to embrace a special nationwide event.

The team and residents at The Rosary Nursing Home are feeling the flower power in time for their Silver Sunday celebration in October.

Taking place on October 2, Silver Sunday is a national day celebrating older people, where communities and organisations host free events to help combat loneliness and reduce isolation.

The team and residents have been rolling up their sleeves to craft beautiful orchid themed decorations and accessories in honour of the foundation’s official flower.

Linda Adams, a 77-year-old resident, said: “I have always loved flowers, the orchids are so pretty.”

The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader Andree Chandler said: “Our residents keep commenting how stunning the orchid decorations and accessories are and it’s getting everyone geared up to our special Silver Sunday celebration.”

The home will be hosting a jazz themed tea event with live music from the Ambassadors of Jazz and a high tea menu on Silver Sunday between 2pm and 4pm.

Andree added: “There is so much to look forward to for our Silver Sunday celebration – there will be great food, wonderful company and toe-tapping entertainment so we do hope as many people come along and support us to celebrate our residents and other older people.”

All are welcome to the home for the event, the address is: Mayfield Drive, Durleigh, Bridgwater TA6 7JQ.
