A FLOOD barrier is being temporarily installed in Blake Gardens in Bridgwater amid wild weather warnings.
Sedgemoor District Council said in advance of predicted high tides over the next few days, the authority will be installing the barrier in Blake Gardens.
It's a precautionary measure to make sure that the homes in St Saviours Avenue are protected.
It comes as the Met Office warns of slow-moving thunderstorms potentially developing later today.
It said that there is a risk this could lead to torrential downpours, with hail and lightning and there is also a risk of flash flooding.
A spokesperson for the Met Office added: "Isolated thunderstorms may break out later this afternoon and through the evening.
"Some locations could see 30-40 mm in an hour, bringing the possibility of flash flooding, particularly in urban areas, and lightning could cause disruption to power supplies.
"The main risk period is during the late afternoon and evening."
Heavy showers and thunderstorms are also expected across the South West tomorrow (Friday, September 16), and more thunderstorms.
The barrier will be taken down next Tuesday - we'll keep you updated with any other weather warnings.
