AN ELDERLY woman was cut out of her car after a crash between a car and tractor.

A total of three people were injured in the crash, which happened at midday yesterday (Thursday) on Enmore Road, Broomfield, Bridgwater.

Three fire engines attended the scene, after receiving a call from the ambulance service, and stabilised both vehicles on arrival.

Firefighters then used hydraulic cutting equipment to cut the roof off the car and free the woman, and passed her to the care of paramedics.

It is understood the elderly woman suffered a leg injury, but it is not thought to be life-threatening.

Two other people were treated by paramedics at the scene, but it is not believed they were injured seriously.

Firefighters made the vehicles safe before leaving the incident.

A spokesman from South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called to the incident just before midday at Enmore Road.

"There was one casualty that had to be cut out of the car by firefighters.

"It was an elderly female, who had suffered a leg injury, and she was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton."
