A MAN is in a serious but stable condition following a crash between a cyclist and a car trailer.

The road was closed near the Frederick Road junction and the turning for the sports centre.

The crash occurred at 1pm yesterday (Wednesday, August 10), and police and ambulance were called.

The cyclist suffered a serious head and hand injury and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward to help the enquiries. 

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "The cyclist, in his mid-20s suffered a head injury and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help our enquiries."
