BRIDGWATER College students took on the challenge and competed in the Language Perfect World Championships 2016.

The group of 20 A Level and International Baccalaureate pupils, studying French, Italian and Spanish, worked incredibly hard on their vocabulary and verbs and answered 30,534 questions.

The Language Perfect is an online resource used by more than 1,000 school and colleges worldwide, to increase the profile of languages.

The annual world championships allow students to work at their own pace to test their language knowledge.

French students Lizzie Dabenett and Monika Terelak achieved Gold Awards with Lizzie being the college's top scorer

International Baccalaureate student, Olivia Reed, achieved a Silver award.

Rheanne Lee, Clara Pichel, Emily Harwood achieved Credit awards.

Bridgwater College placed seventh overall in England for all languages in the 1-50 students category out of 22 schools.

Irena Hubble-Brezowski, course leader for French at Bridgwater College, said: "This was an excellent way to motivate our students to learn and refresh vocabulary at exactly the right time of the year, as they approached their exams.

"The Programme is really easy to use and everybody had fun while learning at their own pace."
