IT APPEARS that the trees in Fore Street in Bridgwater may have suffered from an act of vandalism.
These photos were given to the Mercury by Councillor Brian Smedley, showing that the bark has been scratched off the bottom half of the trunk.
Brian said: "I have talked to people along the quayside who are all angry but no one saw it."
The police have been informed.
The question is, why would anyone vandalise our lovely trees?
