A LOCAL woman who runs a charity helpline to help dogs said she was 'disgusted' by being left without a phone line for over a month.

Brenda Jojic, who lives in Horsey Lane near Bridgwater, runs a charity called The German Shepherd Helpline for people to phone if they know of a dog that is being neglected or in need of urgent care.

But for six weeks Brenda was unable to take calls on the freephone number she uses to run the charity having moved house.

"I don't understand it. If this was a business it would have been fixed within a matter of days. ," Mrs Jojic said.

She has recently moved property to Horsey Lane and was originally waiting on Talk Talk to connect the line, however after a fortnight she gave up and moved her contract to BT but the problem still was not fixed for another four weeks.

"We are now a month behind on planning for our annual fundraising event. I was told numerous times by both companies that an engineer would out to fix it, but they either cancelled at the last minute, or sent the wrong engineer," she said.

"It is a unique charity but it completely relies on the phone, I think it is disgusting the two companies did not fix the problem for so long."

A BT spokesperson said: "The engineer that visited Miss Jojic last week was unable to complete the installation and we apologise for that."

"However, we have managed to bring the subsequent appointment forward and an engineer is due to the visit her property to complete the work on this week.”

The Mercury understands that the line has now been sorted and the charity is up and running again.
