THE fire brigade were called to help a child who was stuck in a shopping trolley in Asda, East Quay, in Bridgwater.
The incident occurred on May 20 at 7:43pm.
One appliance was sent to help, and when they arrived, the crew confirmed one child was indeed stuck in trolley.
They got to work using small tools to release the child, aged one, from trolley.
It was confirmed that the child was released at 7:53pm.
The child's mum, Sarah D'chaundy, said she is 'very grateful' for the help they received.
She said: "We were doing our shopping and Eboni-Rose, my daughter, was sitting in the trolley.
"She was trying to get out even though she was strapped in and somehow she got her leg round and got it trapped between the two bars in the trolley seat.
"She didn't even cry or make a fuss.
"We noticed it quickly when we went to put her legs in properly and realised after much trying, her foot wouldn't budge and was stuck.
We then quickly asked a staff member to help, who then quickly got managers to come over to help.
"Customers also came over and helped helping us distract Eboni and trying to keep weight off her ankle."
Sarah said the brigade had to be called.
"In the end the manager said to contact the fire brigade so his colleague did and they came within minutes and helped her out slowly with a few tools and man power," she said.
"Within 10 minutes she was out all safe and sound, no marks on her and walking fine.
"She was happy and smiling and so calm.
"We were panicky and worried but she was very brave.
"She's two on May 26 so full of beans.
"Me and my partner Tom Plunkett just want to thank all who helped us get her out all safely.
"The Bridgwater fire brigade, Bridgwater asda managers and staff and the friendly lovely customers who all took their time to support us.
"We are very grateful and appreciate the time and effort everyone put in if that makes sense.
"It's amazing how quick it happened and how quickly it got sorted.
"Kids do the craziest things so definitely will be showing her the Mercury when she's older."
