THE students at Willowdown Primary Academy have been bringing the art of writing and reporting to life.
As part of their newspaper project, classes in year four and five held a day dedicated to learning how to be a journalist.
I was given the exciting opportunity to be invited along to be a part of their news day, where the children dressed up as reporters and photographers to really get into the part.
Teacher, Miss Emily Critcher, split the class into groups and tasked them with coming up with questions to ask me.
The pupils came up with a variety of ideas, many of which involved asking for tips on how to structure and write a an article for a newspaper.
We then discussed the importance of a good headline and opening sentence, which aims to draw the reader in.
Photography and pictures were also topic that the pupils were keen to find out more about, as well as what sort of questions to ask a celebrity.
The different groups then had the chance to come up with their own headlines and questions to ask singer Will Young, ahead of my interview with him.
They helped me with ideas of things they'd like to know and gave me suggestions for their favourite headline, such as Will Young set to rock Somerset, before his performance at Somerset Rocks.
