A KINDLY Bridgwater resident who set up a fundraising page after her elderly neighbour fell victim to a scam has handed the money over to him.

Vicki Redwood asked people to donate and help support her neighbour who had £700 stolen from him by conmen who pretended they from from the council fixing a gate.

On Thursday January 28, £425 which was raised, was handed over to Colin who had no idea what his neighbours had done.

Vicki said: "Colin was so happy- it seemed like he was almost crying and couldn't help but phone relatives to tell them what had happened.

"It was so sweet to see- he was chuckling the whole way through.

"My neighbour, Kay Foxon, approached me after her son , Harley Foxon, suggested we went door to door to make a collection for Colin.

"When Kay asked me, I suggested the go fund me site and it went from there really.

"We are so grateful for the £425 that we managed to raise for him.

"We advised him to keep his money in the bank this time, which he promised us he would."

the Mercury supported Vicki's campaign and would like to thank everyone for the kind generosity.
