A YOUNG man who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome has been left devastated after his bike was stolen from outside a supermarket by heartless thieves.
Mat Spilsbury, 23, had his Carrera Valour road bike stolen from outside Sainsbury's in Bridgwater while he was shopping, having had his tyres let down by hooligans outside a Spar garage just two weeks earlier.
"Who would do such a thing? I couldn't believe it when I walked outside and just saw the lock hanging there," Mat said.
"I was hopeful the police would be able to help out but it seems there is little they can do."
Mat's father Wayne said he was concerned that the incident had left his son pretty distraught.
"Mat suffers from Asperger's Syndrome and is trying to live independently, and having his bike stolen has really affected his ability to trust people," Mr Spilsbury said.
