A ONE year old girl was taken to hospital today after a fire broke out in a flat in Bridgwater.
Fire cews were called to the incident at a flat above a shop by a passing member of the public at 3.26pm today in East Quay, Bridgwater.
Two Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service crews were sent to the scene from Bridgwater, and on arrival all people were accounted for as being safely out of the building.
The fire was started by a box that had been placed on an electric cooker hob.
An ambulance was called to attend the scene after a one-year-old girl was suspected to be suffering from smoke inhalation.
After being checked over by paramedics, she was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The cause was confirmed as accidental and damage was confined to the box only.
