RESIDENTS, shopkeepers and visitors have raised issues over drinking in Blake Gardens in Bridgwater.

One mother, who did not wish to be named, said: “Every single day it’s bad. I’ve spoken to the police and I’ve spoken to the town council.

"He (at the council) said they had made lots of improvements and it’s a lot better."

She said the atmosphere was unpleasant with groups of mainly young men who were clearly drunk.

Residents are concerned in particular by the section by the museum where the path runs along an avenue of trees.

Another resident also expressed anger over the issue.

“It’s just not good enough," she said. "We have to live with it on a daily basis. The men are just a menace.

"Sometimes they are urinating in public, vomiting, shouting or fighting."
