Homes were left in darkness last night (October 1) after a fault with an underground cable caused the power to switch off.
1,576 Western Power Distribution customers in the Westonzoyland area were affected by the power cut, which occurred at 7.48pm.
853 homes were lucky enough to have their lights back on within a couple of minutes, whilst other homes had their power put back on in stages as te faults were being discovered.
A remaining 14 homes had to wait until 10.30pm for their power to return.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: "We carried out safety checks, which meant that 14 customers had to wait until 10.30pm for their power to come back on.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
