Fire and Air Ambulance crews were called to the scene of a collision on the A39 between Nether Stowey and Cannington earlier this evening (Saturday, August 22).

The incident, which took place just after 5.30pm, involved two vehicles resulting in one person being trapped who the fire crew managed to cut free by removing the roof from the vehicle.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said that the incident also  left four other people walking wounded.

The road was shut for an hour and a half but the highways agency cleared the scene and the road reopened at 20.16pm.
