YOUNGSTERS and staff at Hamp Nursery and Infant School are celebrating their recent Ofsted report.

The school in Bridgwater received an overall ‘good’ ranking in their its inspection, with one aspect branded outstanding.

The school was previous classed as being ‘good’ The report states that the quality of teaching is consistently good and sometimes outstanding, with a strong emphasis on supporting children’s language and communication skills.

The contribution of the early years' provision to the well-being of children was classed as outstanding, with staff praised as providing a highly welcoming environment where children feel secure. Management was also praised as for being ‘strong’ and providing extensive support.

It also reads that sStaff were said to work closely in partnership with parents, work well as a team and deploy themselves highly effectively to protect and promote children’s welfare.

One improvement suggested by the inspector was to review the planning for older toddlers to support them in using books more often.

The inspector, Elaine Douglas, observed activities and the quality of teaching indoors and outdoors, as well as talking with staff and parents.

She also checked safeguarding information and the premises and looked at policies, procedures, children’s development records and planning.
