PRESS reports that fast food giant McDonalds was planning to put a £1.3million drive-through restaurant at The Clink mystified Sedgemoor’s economic development unit.
The unit knew nothing about the plan and nor did economic development committee chairman Cllr Trevor Donaldson, who confessed: “It frightened me to death when I heard of a possible 100ft M advertising sign being planned there and I am certainly going to ask questions about this one.”
However, planning officer John Conder confirmed that the site had been allocated for such activity under the town development plan.
OFFICIALS and drivers of Heron freight gathered at the Gateway Foodmarkets depot at Huntworth Business Park to present a cheque for £1,640 to Margaret Pegg, chairman of the fundraising committee of the League of Friends of Taunton Hospitals.
