A 72-YEAR-OLD man who was killed on Friday, (May 15) after his car collided with a bus full of school children has been named by police.
Jarvis Condon from Nether Stowey was killed after his Mercedes car, travelling from Bridgwater towards Nether Stowey, collided with a school bus from Bridgwater College Academy on the A39 Cannington by-pass.
Police say the car had approached a roundabout and turned left on to the by-pass where it hit the bus which was travelling in the opposite direction at around 2.30pm.
Mr Condon received treatment at the scene but died shortly afterwards.
No pupils or teachers travelling on the bus from were reported to have injuries.
The road was closed until gone 9pm while a detailed examination of the scene was carried out.
Mr Condon's family released the following tribute: “Jarvis John Condon was aged 72 years from Nether Stowey, Bridgwater.
"Jarvis was also referred to by his middle name, John. He was a much-loved member of his local community."
Collision investigators are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to help them with their enquiries.
