BUSINESS people from across Somerset will be able to hear from a selection of industry leaders at a conference in Bridgwater next month.

The eighth annual Somerset in Business Conference, hosted by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, is on Thursday, June 4 at Junction 24 and the theme is Made in Somerset.

It will allow visitors to gain an insight into best business practice in the region through first-hand accounts and case studies and will be split into three sessions: Somerset – A Quality Brand; Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing; and Fashion, Food and Funding.

This year’s event will feature guest speakers including Graham Cole, chairman of AgustaWestland; Simon Howes, managing director of SWMAS; Chris Ormrod, prime minister, Ministry of Cake; Chris Pratt, managing director, Elecsis; Douglas Cordeaux, managing director, Fox Brothers; and Andrew Smith, property and energy manager, Numatic.

Further speakers are expected from Thales, Pittards and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. There will be an opportunity for delegates to attend one-to-one surgeries with the Hinkley supply chain team, SWMAS, UKTI trade advisors and the Somerset Chamber of Commerce which can be booked on the day.

The event will start at 9am with networking and an interactive exhibition area comprising over 30 trade stands. Visitors will also be able to get hands on in a customised 14 metre HGV trailer, packed with the latest machinery and simulators.
