FIVE-YEAR-OLD Hollie Jarman knows exactly how her new helper will look.

She will have a wet nose, a tail that wags and be called Princess Jasmine.

Little Hollie, from Wilstock Village near Bridgwater, has sensory processing dysfunction which affects her daily living.

Now her family has launched an appeal to raise £6,500 for a specially trained autism service puppy which is not available through the NHS.

Hollie’s dad, Daren, said: “Hollie is a wonderful daughter, very caring and full of life.

“Each day presents a difficult challenge not only for Hollie but her other family members.

“Hollie does not understand the world around her or how to manage everyday emotions and at times this can be difficult to manage and it puts a strain on the family and others around her.

“An autism puppy would help Hollie cross a road safely and stop her running off when in public.

“It will help Hollie sleep better at night and to manage challenging behaviour.

“An autism puppy would really help Hollie to develop into a wonderful young lady that can finally interact with her peers and public in general.”

Daren and his wife, Gemma have launched an online appeal and have already raised just over £600.

The puppy would initially visit the family then go off to be specially trained by a charity, Service Dogs UK.
