A TOTAL of 13 talented entertainment acts fought off tough competition during auditions to secure a front of curtain slot at this year’s carnival concerts.

In total, 22 hopeful acts applied to take part in the auditions at Bridgwater Town Hall, where 57 judges assessed a five minute performance from budding entertainers.

After 90 minutes of auditions, the following successful acts were selected to perform at this year’s popular Bridgwater Carnival Concerts, which take place between Monday, October 5 and Saturday, October 17:

  •  Ben Filler – solo vocalist
  • Elizabeth Swan – musician/vocalist
  • Harriet Brixey – solo vocalist
  • George Heath – solo vocalist
  • Kevin Cripwell – ventriloquist
  • Andrew’s Half-Sister – Folk duo
  • Fox King Dance Academy – dance group
  • Nathan Ball – solo vocalist
  • Best Foot Forward – dance group
  • Jessica Gardner & Georgia Handel – vocal duo
  • Kylie Parsons – solo vocalist
  • Viva La Diva – song /dance/showgirls
  • Amanda Nolan – solo vocalist.

Peter Vearncombe (guitar/vocalist) has been selected as reserve act Rita Jones, Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee president, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank every act for taking the time to apply and audition for our concerts.

“Once again receiving so much interest proves that the Bridgwater carnival concerts are as popular as ever.

“The standard of the acts was the highest ever, and the judges had a very difficult task in choosing which 13 should go forward to the big event later this year.

“For those acts that didn’t make it through this time, we would love to see them back auditioning for next year’s event.”
