RESIDENTS of a Bridgwater property who last month were fined £5,000 for breaching a noise abatement notice have had more equipment seized and face another prosecution.
Police and council workers swooped on the house in Taunton Road in a second raid, following continued complaints from residents about extremely loud levels of music as well as concerns over other anti-social behaviour.
During the raid on Thursday more than 19 items of equipment including turntables, speakers, amplifiers, and TVs were removed from the property.
A spokesperson for the council said: “After obtaining a warrant, the property was entered with the assistance of Avon and Somerset Police and all equipment capable of producing noise was seized.
“There will now be a prosecution for breach of a noise abatement notice and the council will seek a confiscation order to dispose of the seized equipment.
“Sedgemoor District Council will continue to have close contact with the occupiers, and monitor the property.”
Last month three people were fined a total of £5,000 for breaching a noise abatement notice following an earlier equipment seizure when police and council workers confiscated 58 pieces of equipment.
The council spokesperson added: “This operation demonstrates Sedgemoor District Council’s willingness, where appropriate, to use its full range of enforcement powers to tackle this sort of anti-social and nuisance behaviour which can seriously affect the quality of people’s lives.”
