MOTORISTS in Bridgwater are being urged to drive carefully on rural roads after it was revealed that three in five fatalities occur on rural roads.
Brake, the road safety charity, is backing the Department for Transport's latest multimedia campaign launched on October 9, which shows how country roads are deadlier than many of us think.
In a survey for THINK!, the government's road safety campaigns unit, a quarter of drivers admit to having had a near miss on a country road.
Julie Townsend, of Brake, said: “We are urging drivers to slow down on country roads, staying well within limits.”
