BRIDGWATER Town Council has been dishing out the cash this month.

The biggest cash injections went to Sydenham Community Centre, which received £10,000 for core funding, Hamp Community Association, which received £10,000 for core funding to its ReCreation scheme, along with £5,000 for project funding.

Among the 12 groups to be awarded council funding is the recently opened Bridgwater mosque in Friarn Street, which received £2,500 to help with the refurbishment of the former Quaker building purchased earlier this year.

Bridgwater Arts Centre also received £2,500 of council cash for new box office equipment and a new ticketing system, while Bridgwater Martial Arts Academy got £1,000 to extend and develop its activities.

Bridgwater’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Leigh Redman, said: “As always we’e supporting all community groups who come forward and we’re an allinclusive council.”
