TRINITY Sports and Leisure Centre staff have been praised by Ofsted for the way they manage the Active Kidz play scheme at the site.

The centre’s play scheme was awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted inspectors who visited the 1610 centre on Chilton Road last month.

According to the inspectors, staff were able to demonstrate a clear knowledge of the children’s interests which encouraged the children to develop good social skills and to become independent learners.

The report also singled out the management at the centre and leadership at the play scheme which “promoted strong safeguarding procedures through a robust recruitment process to monitor and ensure staff suitability”.

The Active Kidz play scheme, which opens five days a week throughout the school holidays, was also praised for the way it “engaged the children and extended their learning through well planned activities”.

The manager of Trinity Sports and Leisure, Nick Lovett, said: “We are delighted the enthusiasm and expertise of the staff who run the play scheme have been recognised.

“The team is very well qualified and our staff really understand the needs of the children to ensure their time with us is both fun and stimulating.”

The Ofsted report also commented that “good relationships exist between the play scheme, the parents and the schools the children attend, which helps to contribute to the children’s overall learning and welfare”.
