WITH Bridgwater Carnival 2014 fast approaching, JD Wetherspoon has become the latest organisation to throw its support behind the celebrations.

The pub chain, which owns The Carnival Inn in St Mary Street, Bridgwater, has agreed to sponsor publicity information for the town’s biggest night of the year.

About 40,000 leaflets and 100 posters will be distributed to tourist information centres, motorway service stations and event attractions throughout the UK, as organisers hope for a record crowd for the 409th anniversary of The Gunpowder Plot.

The Carnival Inn manager Emma Simpson said: “Bridgwater Carnival and its associated activities bring much trade to local businesses all year around and it makes perfect sense for us to work in partnership with the carnival committee to promote the town. I do hope that 2014 will be a successful year for everybody involved with this amazing spectacle.”

Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, added: “I would like to thank Emma, the staff at The Carnival Inn and JD Wetherspoon for their generous support and for providing us with a platform to promote Bridgwater Carnival.”
