VOLUNTEERS are needed to help clean up the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal next weekend.

The West Country Branch of The Inland Waterways Association (IWA), a national waterways charity, is holding the canal clean-up event from between 10.15am to about 2pm on Saturday, May 3.

The group will meet between bridges 6 and 7, adjacent to Canal Cottage TA6 6BX, and proceed to litter pick in both directions and on both sides of the canal where accessible.

Tools and equipment will be provided by Canal and River Trust who is supporting the event. Volunteers just need to turn up with refreshments for the day, sturdy shoes and old clothes ready to start litter picking.

For further information or to let us know you will be joining the group, contact Mike Slade, IWA West Country Branch, on 07977 263840.
