In my car at the lights just after it took place. I did not see it, however the lorry driver was trying to comfort what looked like a male on the floor. The Ambulance was just arriving. Looked like it only just happened. Fortunately the Ambulance must have been in close proximity. Do hope the individual is ok.

Not suprising at this junction.

Vehicles are often turning right from the Clink into East Quay/Wylds Road after the lights have turned red (because they have passed the lights waiting to turn right) and the green phase for pedestrians is active.

Admittedly this may not be the case here but the lights really do need a right filter arrow for this manouvere, it's 'an accident waiting to happen'

Look like the lorry turned right after coming from the asda direction and hit the person as they were crossing the clink crossing. Those crossing lights don't last long enough and they go red as you get half way across.

Surely it would have been going to Asda or maybe even straight on?

The photo makes my comment about the lights irrelevant for this incident but still stands overall.

It looked like a foreign lorry that was coming from the asda roundabout and it was turning right at the 4 way junction. Only caught a glimpse of it but the lorry was facing the curry's car park.

Yep, I got my wires crossed and thought the lorry was facing Halfords/Asda in the second pic!

Glad you got that sorted out.
After all - that's what's important, eh?

The pedestrian green light comes after the green phase from sainsburies to police station and vice-versa, the green phase from halfords to Wyldes road is the phase after Wyldes road to halfords. When the pedestrian green phase is active all traffic is on red so it should be impossible for a car to hit a pedestrian if everyone obeys the light sequence.

This also applies to cyclists, not that you would know!

I know I should get out more

Unfortunately from what I've seen most pedestrians look at the lights for the cars and NOT the lights for pedestrians.

Not saying this happened here but it could explain it. Hope both parties are ok and the old boy makes a full recovery.

What is relevant is that I'm sure we all hope that the gentleman named in the accident, makes a recovery. hGV Lorry - Pedestrian, only one winner, the HGV Lorry. I was Dissapointed to read in this article, all the where' and Where Not's, as to how and who might be at fault. One had to read the sat 2 Sentences, to establish, that A. The Haulage Firm , had no comment to make! that is the right and proper response, that their insurance Company would advice, as with any Motor Accident, you do not admit liability, at the scene, you wait for the evidence, from the scene to be examined.
2.The second point @ the end of the article, States the Police, are not pursuing the Lorry Driver further. So this Unfortunatly leads to the Pedestrian, being the erring party. As I said, I wish him well and hope he makes a speedy recovery. There Unfortunatly has to be a party responsible for this Tragic accident, which it was. No one could have foreseen it happening!
