A BEAUTY therapist in Wedmore is through to the final of an renowned competition.

Emma Rogers will be hoping to wow judges when she gives it her finest touches at the WorldSkills UK Beauty Therapy competition next month.

The 20-year-old owner of Beauty by Emma, in Church Street, will go head-to-head with beauty therapists from across the UK for a chance to compete on the international stage in Germany next year.

Emma said: “I’m really looking forward to the final. I was thrilled to win the regional heats in April and I’ve been working really hard in preparation for this.

“During the competition I will have to perform a range of beauty treatments, including a full body massage and a microdermabrasion facial.”

Emma, who won the title of Weston College Apprentice of the Year in 2011, set up in business earlier this month though her salon will be officially launched on November 9 – a week before her final showdown at the NEC in Birmingham.

The competition rewards talent and drives up levels of expertise in apprenticeships, skills and further education.

Those who excel will be invited to represent the UK at the biennial international skills competition, which will be held in Leipzig.
