A PENSIONER who died in his car near Taunton after suffering a suspected heart attack was from Cossington, it has emerged.

The VW Golf belonging to 85-year-old Jack William Payton swerved across the road before ploughing through bushes and down an embankment.

No other vehicles were involved.

An inquest opened and adjourned into the death of Mr Payton, of St Mary’s Close, Cossington, heard that he died of natural causes.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident on the A38 at Bathpool at 5.30pm last Wednesday (October 17) to call their collision investigation unit on 101.
